Car Stereo

Postby Greg H. » Sun Aug 30, 2009 12:28 am

So since i'm not super savvy on the technical side of stereos and the like, i have come here with a problem, that maybe be very simple to solve.

I got a car about a year ago (1992 toyota camry) and very excitedly plugged my ipod into its' then working sound system (via tape deck adaptor). The moment i did this however, all the speakers except the right front shut off, and it's really quite annoying. The full mix didnt go to that channel, just the right side of the mix. Can anyone give me some tips on how to fix this. I would love to be able to hear guitar solo's again...

You're sure you're not just listening to something recorded by Matt at Fluid?

dielaugh BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...... roflmao

Greg, to narrow it down some as to where the problem is, try plugging in a cassette tape (if such a thing still exists). If a cassette will play on all speakers, and your ipod works properly through the headphones, then the problem would be with your cassette adapter thingy.

In fairness it would have been recorded at Fluid by Andrew, and produced by Matt.

Sorry Matt, I don't know if that makes it better or worse.

You gotta admit... Greg's thread almost sounded like a setup for that one.

the head on your adapter is not lining up with the head on the deck did you try flipping over the adapter some models will allow you to do this. other than that try a new adapter by a different manufacture. or you can get a new deck with a line in pretty cheap .

I dont think it's the adapter itself, because when i take it out for the radio, it's all on the same speaker

Greg, the first rule in trouble shooting is to eliminate the variables. Swap out the speakers for speakers that you know work properly. That'll answer your question.

Now I'm going back to eating popcorn

You gotta ask yourself a couple questions here...
Is it worth it to have it fixed? or should you look at a replacement system?
Is a '92 Yota worth investing in a good sound system?
