Daniel Lanois anyone?

Postby Crimson Chameleon » Sun Nov 29, 2009 2:45 pm

One of my favourite producers (and artists) is Daniel Lanois. Here is a forum discussion he did where he answered some questions and offered some advice.

Check it out if you're interested:

Any other Daniel Lanois fans on here?

I'd cruised that forum when it was happening. Cool stuff.

I'm a fan of a lot of his work. Many people forget or ignore his early stuff which was Canadian radio standards.

If you haven't a copy of "Shine", it is a masterpiece.

So beautiful. It sounds so vulnerable yet confident. A mature wisdom and understanding of sound, melody, and feeling.

I got to see Lanois at the Capital in Moncton last year. At 5:00 before the show he did an interview with Bob Mersereau in the lobby. Anyone could show up. He talked about music, recording, writing. One of the best things I ever heard. And the concert was magic. Old Les Paul through an AC 30

I have heard he is very generous with his time, doing things like that. Too bad he wasn't at Imperial on that circuit.
