When you walk up to a podium to speak...

...and there's a microphone... don't blow into it!

Although it's hilarious to scare an audience into silence, please, just don't.

By extension, tapping on it or shouting "check... test" isn't cool either.

Had someone light up the PA at the theatre by blowing into a condenser on a podium and they silenced the room with fear.

You're preachin' to the choir, brother.
It's amazing how many professional performers don't have a clue about microphone etiquette.

It is our job to educate those who do not know. I hope you told this person that what they did was a very bad thing.

It was actually so bad, I didn't have to. It pretty much moved everyone in the room back one row...

All I said was... What did we learn...?

I've since retired from that career. I'm much happier now.
