Laptop DAW

I’m looking to upgrade my laptop and I’d like to have the peace of mind in knowing that the machine I buy is pro-audio ready. Does anybody have experience with either of these two companies?

PC Audiolabs ---> http://www.pcaudiolabs.com/

ADK ---> http://www.adkproaudio.com/

I’m slightly wary of ADK’s use of expresscard for its firewire ports, but their price is excellent. They also will include an external drive with your purchase.

I hear that PCAL’s support is unbeatable though.

Thoughts / suggestions?

ADK has a great reputation. They use expresscard for Firewire because there was a big issue a couple of years ago with motherboard manufacturers switching away from a certain firewire chip. I think it was called the T1. This caused a ton of troubles with a variety of audio hardware, so a lot of people switched over to expresscard firewire ports to alleviate the problems. The downside is that it eats up your expresscard slot.

Here's the system I'm probably going to buy. Going with an SSD hybrid drive. I'm pretty sure that I should be fine running my software and writing my audio files to this hard drive. I'm going to be using this to record live audio and basic demos. I doubt I'll use many virtual instruments.
