Virtual Instruments

Postby Mathieu Benoit » Thu Nov 10, 2011 10:52 am

There are 3 virtual instruments I want by next summer. The first two are no brainers, they are arguably the best in their respective fields:

Omnisphere

Stylus RMX

The third is a piano and I'm looking at Ivory II, but I'm torn between the uprights and the grand pianos. I never would have considered the uprights but they sound amazing.

Ivory II Grand Pianos

IVory II Upright Pianos

Anyways, all those things are very useful to me but I just don't know which to get first. I'm thinking pianos though since I'm starting to outgrow my current sample library. Ultimately I'm looking to use my Kurzweil strictly as a MIDI controller soon since although it's a powerful synth, the preset programs are getting rather dated and I don't have the patience to get too far into the synthesis aspect of it.

Any thoughts, suggestions or comments?

I love the Ivory uprights, but I've recently heard some great sounds from Alicia's Keys by Native instruments. Might not be as flexible as Ivory though.

I was completely blown away by the uprights to the point where I have a hard time choosing which I want first.

I'm kind of on the fence about Stylus RMX though, except that I hear there is an update coming up soon that should be a real show-stopper.

Ordered Ivory II Grand Pianos today from Long & McQaude. Spoke to a gentleman named Steve and got excellent / prompt service (and a good price to boot.)

These piano sounds are really great. 77GB of awesomeness.
