So Im in my music room pulling my hair because out of the blue, I have Latency issues. I don't know why. What are some first steps to fixing this?

To start with please lay out the equipment you are using and how it's connected.

Secondly what's your buffer size?

What Matt said.

So many things can cause latency.

What are you hearing, and when are you hearing it? Have you added any new plugins to the project you're working on or adjusted any parameters lately that you wouldn't normally? Is this only when running tracks, or anytime when monitoring through the software?

Hints please...

Also, let's see your computer specs, if you're using a DAW - free hard drive space, is your DAW on the same drive as your OS, etc.

I'm gonna take a really wild stab in the dark, since Andrew and I were talking about it and it's fresh in my mind: Are you using a limiter with "look ahead"?

The other reason I'm saying this is because it has always worked fine, and it's unlikely that your set up has really changed since I don't see you as a guy that likes to mess around with a setup once it works well. So I wonder if it's something like a plugin limiter with look ahead, since you may not even consider that it could be the culprit.

How is your health? Do you notice this happening when talking to people in person? Maybe you're losing your mind.

Also, I typed this a while ago and you're just getting it now? It's happening everywhere!!!

Once again, what Matt said... "Look Ahead" on anything will give you that as a side effect. Limiters, gates, etc.

He's using Logic and I think the stock compressors have look ahead features, and I know he uses them so I'm almost ready to put money down on it.

Anyone else worried that we haven't heard back from Dylan since his OP on this?

Maybe Clinton was right and the latency was really with Dylan and not the gear.

I apologize for my absence on this....... facepalm

I was able to fix the problem, I shouldn't say I did Logic did and I just found the fancy feature to help me. I was getting latency in my headphones while I played, and when it was recorded, it tracked early.....so my vocals track sounded very very rushed. This was happening on a brand new project with no plugins of any kind.
