I read about it, then I forgot about it. I'm looking at the clock, workshop starts in one minute and I'm just sitting down to eat.
Too bad, I could really use a tutorial on recording drums and Sam is a cool guy.

Oh, there's more to it than that! Panning, quantizing, velocity, the amount of reverb, delay or distortion to dial in...sheesh!

oh my G!!!! there's a thread 'bout my drum clinic!!!!!

it was hilarious but mighty scary for me ...at home i only use a stereo m audio box for general everyday guitar and bass practice so the day of the clinic i dusted off the m-audio fast track 6 input terdfest and to my dismay noticed that it seemed to be making a habit of loosing connection to the computer and sonar .....

i got it going at the store whilst setting up for the clinic and all seemed to be A OK .....so i started the clinic and proceeded to trip over XLRs twice while demonstrating micing tech on the drums - this sent the fast track flying off the desk twice - of course generally clumsiness wouldn't phase me as i have no problem laughing at myself but when i went to fire up the daw and record the damn thing had lost connectivity to the system due to my trip ups ...so i proceed to reboot etc etc ...all the while i have Dean and Warren heckling me ....acutally all Dean ...Warren was giving me eyeballs LOL ...

15 freakin long red faced minutes before the system would see the peice of poop again .....so finally we got to recording and mixing johnie mo but by then my nerves were a bit shot ....i was referring to low mids like 200 hz as "200 k" etc .....LOL

folks seemed to be reasonably enlightened by it .....i may try it again with a better interface and more prep some day,

stuff i covered was balance, panning, gating , comp, verb, basic micing tech, EQ - key freq per drum, and parallel comp.

i got pretty damn druck after.....
