Just two cheap Chinese condensers. Just one's a bit cheaper than the other. Seriously though, the diaphragm looks totally different and the electronics are totally different. For a mic at that price point(AKG) I don't really care if they cheap out on the casing and head basket. Not that I would buy one.

I've tried the 214. Cool for what it is. The whole spin on it being a cardioid only 414 is hype only, but it's a decent, if not overpriced, option.

214 was stamped 'Made in Austria' .

Yeah... I think the 214 is a "real" AKG. As real as they come these days.
