Yeah I can't count the number of times I've been doing some vocal editing, getting halfway through the song and then realizing that Melodyne is bypassed. My brain will actually hear notes in tune and in time even though they didn't change. Usually when I go back and try the edited version to the unedited, I still prefer the edited version because I did originally hear the mistakes initially, they just went away after a bit.

On the video though, it didn't work for me all the time. I think it was because the ADR wasn't always perfect which is something I'm fairly sensitive to.

It's like the PHANTOM FADER when doing live shows, if the inquiring punter actually sees you manipulate a control, they believe they hear a difference.
