Practical Sound Workshop at the Fredericton Playhouse

Postby Malcolm Boyce » Thu Jun 14, 2012 8:32 pm

I have been asked to teach my "Practical Sound Course" at the Playhouse in Fredericton this summer. This is the same program I have taught at Imperial several times over the years, and has been very well received by all who have attended.

All I have right now is the Facebook event page: http://www.facebook.com/events/366884636711876/

Dates are July 24-28th.

If I see anything else promo wise on the web, I'll post it here. Any questions about content in the course... Just ask.

Fredericton peeps... pass it on.

You're certainly welcome to crash here Nick. Also Mal, if you need a hand with anything just let me know. I'll be sure to inform all my students. Actually looking at the facebook page it looks like a number of them are already going. Some smart kids so you might be able to get a little more in depth depending on the rest of the classes understanding of basics.

Looks really cool. I assume the focus is mostly on live sound?

The Playhouse has sent out a message about a registration cut off date being Friday, 13 July, so hopefully anyone interested is getting fixed up to go.

Yes, it is about live work, but it also includes information about equipment and principles that apply with recording as well. The "focus" is definitely about stage work though.

In Saint John, I usually have D&D sound at my disposal for any last minute things that come up that I don't already have on hand, so you never know, I may drop you a line if I end up having someone ask about something that you might have access to... I also don't know what the plan is for musicians and such for demo purposes. The folks at the Playhouse are supposed to take care of that, but if I'm short, I may come looking... Thanks for the offer.

The course is meant to be mostly "general" in nature, but I can usually stray into some more "in depth" stuff as long as I don't lose the rest of the group for too long. There usually is room for the individuals to get something for themselves into the sessions.

Couple of photos from the workshop. Thanks to Judy and the crew at the Playhouse for a great event, and to all the participants for being such a great group.

Pretty much the limit of what I would allow. As usual, a really great mix of participants and experience.
