Not that what happens to "radio" matters much these days

...but this is a neat paper on the effects of clipping in mixes and masters, and what radio processing does to the material.

The old, "make it loud for broadcast" is just so wrong on all levels. What we have actually been doing, is making it sound like it's on the radio, from the track itself. Funny how we used to think of "radio" sound as inferior.... facepalm

I read the whole thing.
Tardon Feathered? Is that really a real name.
The examples of mixes, pre-processer, looks like music from another era.

I would say that they certainly are. This study was from more than a decade ago so... good eye for that!

I have a few issues with Bob's approach but his book is an excellent read. Very worthwhile purchase.

Haven't read his book but am familiar with a lot of his online presence. I agree with your assessment about having "issues".

Yeah he strikes me as an odd duck for sure, and some of his writings I strongly disagree with. However the book is worth a read and has some excellent material in it.
