Still a long way from being in your local pharmacy, but promising nonetheless.

They've been making serious headway towards this kind of thing for years now. It's really good news over the long term and is specifically good for exposure related hearing problems. Something near and dear to musically inclined folks like us...

Near and dear to the moderate dip at 4K in my right ear.

Funny this is mentioned. Someone thought it was funny to blow an air horn in the lunch room the other day. I was about 4 feet away. When I made a stink about they thought it was even funnier. My ears are rather precious to me....they didn't seem to get that.

I, as well, hope you are more careful with your hearing in musical situations than you were some years ago. You were quite young back then though...... :-P

I blame my hearing loss on a very acute event that happened when I was 16. I won't disclose the details online to protect the guilty parties.

As a side note though: Did anyone know that really loud sounds can make you dizzy and nautious?

Most definitely. As well, prolonged exposure to "loud" also plays a big part in fatigue. I've wondered for years why that hasn't become better known among professionals such as truck drivers who are at risk for that exposure affecting their safety.

At least twice, I've had close range acoustic blasts nearly bring me to my knees. That instantaneous dizziness is pretty freaky.

I had an unexpected close encounter with a HF driver in a PA enclosure a long time ago that staggered me for a few seconds. Who knows what kind of instantaneous damage that was that I can never recover from.

Crazy to think of battlefield injuries that guys must have experienced in the days before the protection that would be used more recently in the military.

Just happened the once for me, but yeah, it literally brought me to my knees.
