The Random Mic and Placement Thread.

Postby Malcolm Boyce » Sun Feb 09, 2014 9:58 pm

I thought I'd start a thread that might be fun and in the vein of some I've seen on other forums. Entirely random pics of mics placed for whatever you have going on. Doesn't have to anything special, although it could get interesting depending on what is in the shot.

Here is pic number one... Beta181C on a 9'Steinway for a dance show. Was there in case I needed to reinforce it a bit, but ended up just for program sound at Imperial. (Ceiling Speakers & Hearing Assist) :-)

Was one mic enough to pick up the whole thing? I've never had good luck with single mic'ing pianos.

Yes, and I also knew it was never going to be a "full PA" kind of thing. I would almost always use a pair.

I didn't take a picture, but I once had to point a 57 at the onboard speaker of a keyboard. Sounded great  . facepalm . >>> .

Even there I would have gone with the 201.

Then I would go with a bullhorn.
