Stuck on the Boardwalk... The Sequel...

Postby Malcolm Boyce » Sat Aug 11, 2007 12:57 pm

So I'm in the monitor tent again. Goz is FOH, and SDeville is "Stage Mangling" for the "Fundy Bay Festival" on the Saint John Boardwalk.

This time, the Crest X-Monitor is the offensive desk. There appears to be something wrong with the mute/solo automation and when it was first turned on today, the solo/active circuit was flickering, and the desk was randomly going into solo, preventing you from cueing anything at the mix position. Yesterday was the first sign of this according to LD.

It hasn't done it in a while now, so hopefully it's one of those, warmed up, now it's gone type of things.

Julian Austin is up later for the ultimate monitor db fest...

Once again... If you're a person with an acoustic instrument, playing in "live" venues, and you don't put electronics in your instrument because it will mess up the sound, remember nothing f's up your sound as much as constant ringing because:

1. You play like you're afraid someone might hear you.
2. You don't want a pickup, but don't know how to play into a mic.
3. The venue you're playing doesn't have enough of the right mic to do what you want because most players have heard of pickups and use them.
4. All of the above.

One last note...

Just because your bass strings haven't broken, doesn't mean you don't need new ones.

Thank you, and good night.

so... lets talk logic circuits.

again... I'm big fan of those military style breakout connectors for patching outboard... you know, with the doghouse frame design, makes set-ups easy, fast and foolproof of connecting your patch in reverse ?

Those pesky logic circuits !!!
whatever happen to relays, eh ?

Saturday was fast and furious, but went on all day. Me and Marc and Malcolm were like festival stage ninjas.
Bands would show up, tell me their stage requirements, we'd wire them up, do a real quick line/monitor check...
NEXT!!!
