Steinberg, NI, etc. clinic at Musicstop

Postby Malcolm Boyce » Thu Jun 29, 2006 12:16 am

Great to see, what I hope is the beginning of clinics and other things at the new Musicstop location in Saint John. We've always been left out of the tours that have made the rounds down this neck of the woods, so hopefully in the new digs, we'll see more stopping here.

Melodyne was the most interesting offering from tonight's demo. Cubase's "non linear" History option was something that others will have to step up to the plate on.

I know of our friend who left the deal early, and I wonder why people who know everything even bother going to clinics... He's an interesting character.

Why did I know that would get YOUR attention "belly boy"?

This is someone who has crossed my path several times over the years, including a half baked attempt at getting me kicked from mixing "country music" at the Imperial. Long story. He has called me a few times over the years regarding maintenance of some of his gear, and acts like it's the first time he's ever talked to me. Any advice I've ever been able to give him, he has basically told me I'm wrong... I don't know why he continues to call me when stuff like this comes up. The last time, I gave him Goz's number, figuring at least he could talk to him about what kind of tape he likes...

So you go to a demo of digital recording software and hardware, sit through the first half of the dealy, ask if the whole thing is going to be about "this stuff", and procede to say that you can do the same thing with your 2" machine and outboard... This all in a room of people who know better.

To say "unable to learn" is about as accurate as I can get.

And now, 20 questions..... :-D

I have an idea, but want to play the home version.

Would you say that "this person" is closer to death than birth?

I think that's probably safe to say.
