All Of Green

Postby Malcolm Boyce » Fri Feb 06, 2009 4:11 pm

Just got a copy of the All Of Green album "To This Point". I'm lovin' it. If you like the Grand Theft Bus kind of groove, this is a disc for you.

I don't know anything about the guys who recorded it... Anyone here know about the studios/people? It has that "21st century" type of mastering thing going on, but it's not ruining the experience for me.

Who recorded it? They're from Fredericton I think aren't they? I might know about the studio. Or at least know someone who knows.

James Gauthier of course teaches at the CAT.
The band's guitar player attended their program in the schools second year.

Yeah James I know quite well. Just worked with him on a small project this week. Brad Perry sounds very familiar but I can't think of who that is. I'll ask James about him.

I guess I haven't been here for a while... glad you like the album Malcolm!

What's "21st century" mastering? Just curious...

I haven't heard it yet, but after our discussion the other night I'd really like to.

I think Malcolm may be referring to the "Loudness Wars" issue.

Hey Butler, glad to see you here.

I love the album.... played the heck out of it last summer when I was out doing festival gigs and such. Many folks who know you guys commented on the coolness of me playing it as pre show on some of the dates.

Any new recordings coming?

No, nothing All Of Green anymore... our drummer moved away and that ended it. I wanted to continue with a new drummer, someone else didn't... we tried to find a middle ground but it didn't happen.

I meant to answer these too...

Yes, "The Camp" is my camp on Harvey Lake. Possibly the funnest week of my life. No distraction, just 7 days of work. Fantastic.

Brad Perry/Competition Studios.... I guess Competition Studios is wherever Brad can set his things up. He's very mobile although I think he does a lot of his mixing at home. He is generally associated with working on music with the Forward Music Group (Grand Theft Bus, Olympic Symphonium, Slate Pacific) and has done lots of other work too... Andy Cotter's solo disc is the last thing I can think of that came out... I'm sure there's lots more that he has done in the area, I don't think he does much outside the city...

James is... well, gone now. Just moved to Beijing... and then off to Sweeden. Great guy, apparently likes to master things in the "21st Century". ;-)

I am sorry to hear that All of Green split, you guys were definitely "the act" I never missed whenever you were in Saint John. I remember having fun at every show cause people were so into your tunes and danced all night. Not to mention the "original" factor of All of Green; the sound was it's own and everything sounded very "natural" and groovy, like that's how it just "came out"? Anyways, hope you are all hapy and still making music, I know you are Butler. I also played a show with "Jelly Roll" when Curbside Prawjek played at the Capitol, and I think I played again with them when I was drumming for Hospital Grade at the Capitol as well. Those were members of All of Green weren't they?

Yup, Matt Gillis (AoG drummer) also fronts Jellyroll. They're based out of Moncton now... I actually played a gig on drums with them, we might do that some more actually.

I liked their music alot! They also seemed to have good turn-outs for their shows.

If they have any left. I forgot to ask how many they had left, but I had to go digging for my copy.

Yeah the girl working there didn't really know where to find it. A fellow customer spotted it in the rack. I forgot to ask if there were more though. The girls was cute though, that's really the point of my story.
