We will have to work with some of these people, y'know. Honestly I'll speak my mind, but I'm not trying to hurt anyone. I just don't think that being "nice" is doing anyone any favors.

Oh agreed. I'm not saying be a dick for the sake of being a dick. Generally the 5 times I've ever watched American Idol, I don't think Simon is really mean to anyone except for Paula. Other than that he pretty much seemed to deliver the unvarnished truth.

I'm usually a bit harder on people that I'm putting the plums to as well. I'm not sure why that is though.

You said a mouthful there. Unfortunately, that's not what the "fans" necessarily want to hear.

I think you should wear a "Vote Quimby" T-Shirt on stage... That would be fun.

I was very polite and I didn't speak directly into the mic for the first one, but I'm new so there (Sean and Shelley). I thought overall performances were good.

The Bottom 3 elimination was the most surprising. We all went up there sure of who we'd vote for, and we ended up giving it to someone else. The third one called in sick. In the end the girl we let through, kept getting better as the night went on. She took our advice and applied it right away. I'm very interested to see what she's gonna do from here on in. I was just curious though...she had tons of people screaming for her... Why didn't they vote? Why was she in the bottom 3?

Anyways... This is probably the last Idol I'm going to until I have to go there with "the band". The whole competition creeps me out. I just don't want anything to do with it anymore. I just want to write some good songs and record them.

Were they giving it to ya?

It sounds like a real roller coaster to be involved in at any level.

So who wants me to say what I really thought of each performer on here? If there's enough interest I'll take the take to copy my notes onto here. My notes differ from what I said on stage last night, I just didn't see the point in ripping them apart. Most of them didn't really pay any attention to what the judges were saying anyways.

I'd be curious, but I don't really know most of them. I've only seen a few of them once. Make sure you hang on to your notes though, as it'll be a good perspective for whomever gets in the studio.

My notes were mostly drawings naked women firing off big guns.

Bobbi's looking for a guest judge for August 5th. They need to be able to perform 5 songs. Roach is out of the question because he has been accompanying Katie the whole time. Katie already has people crying "unfair" because Rhonda's a judge.

I was thinking Clinton would be great for this, I'm waiting for his reply though. Another other suggestions in case Clinton isn't interested?

Ken Tobias,
Jessica Rhaye
That guy that does all the songwriter circles
Joel Leblanc (although he's from Fredericton)
Actually anyone else I can think of would be from Fredericton.

Those were my suggestions too.

Jessica might be interested if I asked her, but maybe not. I get the inpression that Ken would either not do it, or make it a complicated legal transaction.

Clinton would be awesome. Hope he can do it.

I can't think of anyone you haven't already mentioned, but I'm a little brain dead right now.

What's with the "unfair" cry business? Elaborate for those of us who don't know the players well.

How 'bout Sam Patterson for guest judge?

A worthy topic.

One of the front runners for SJ Idol is Katie Rogers. I used to work with her at the Phoenix. She's developed herself into a very good performer in her time at the Dinner Theatre. When Roach told me that she was really good, I thought...meh. She wasn' that good when I last saw her. But she's got her shit together for this (Ask MacRae.) So she's actually a really worthy contestant.

However she is also the long time live-in girlfriend of Rhonda Cusack's son. Rhonda is one of the judges and has been for a few years. People are claiming that Katie doing well so far in the contest is in part because she lives with Rhonda. Katie is practically Rhonda's second daughter. I get that... but Katie got to the top 10 by her own merit. Any of the other judges or organizers can vouch for this, as well well all those who are voting for her.

Bottom line is that she performs great, and she has a strong voting campaign. That's why she's doing well. I've known Rhonda for a long time and she'll call it fair. Besides it's really up to the public now.

Now you know...

Indeed, the one time I saw her, it was a great performance. Great technical skills as well as good stage presence, and emotive qualities.

Doesn't Steve work at the dinner theatre too? Wouldn't that give him an advantage as well, albeit a lesser one?

So did Paula. It doesn't matter even if Rhonda was crooked (which she isn't) It's not up to her who wins...
