oh sure, it's okay for Richard Marx to do it but when I say something all hell breaks loose :-D

Well Richard Marx was stating that John Mayer is a douche, which you'll get no argument from me. I see that as a rather separate event from his musical output though.

As big of a deal as he was for a while, and in the LA "scene", Marx has always been an outspoken critic of the kinda thing Mayer is known for in his "private" life. He reportedly moved his family out of California to get his kids away from that "yo babe" mentality.

That's the message I wanted to clarify for you.

The order is:

Richard Marx, then John Mayer, then Clinton trailing behind ever so slightly. In poker terms, Richard Marx is a Full House, to John Mayer's Flush, to your Straight. You can't beat a John Mayer, but apparently a Richard Marx can. I mean just look at him, he doesn't look like half the douche that John Mayer is, does he?

Actually, on second thought... I seem to have complicated matters as opposed to clarifying them. Sorry man.

Frig, I actually caught a whiff of hairspray just from looking at that photo. Do you understand? I looked at that photo and smelled hairspray.

I left that photo up while I was busy with something else, and a fly got stuck in midair in front of my screen. I was all like "WTF?" Anyways, I'm so glad I was born late enough to miss most of that era. I only had a mullet for like a year...

Haha that's uber funny.

I like all of the comments about how John Mayer has more talent in his pinky finger than Richard Marx has period.....

Funny, but a bit of an exaggeration.

It's easy to look back and say he was cheezy, but then you look at something like this and realize they're both kind of cheezy. I still say Mayer wins this round, but they both wrote for a teenage girl demographic and both grew out of it. They aren't that different is my point.

I would have to agree with Matt.

The differences, as is the whole point of the vid in question, are in their personal lives, which Marx is jabbing at him for.

Mayer is definitely more Matt's idol that way.

Ha! No way, I was a douchebag long before John Mayer came along...
