Your Favorite Enemies

Postby Greg H. » Mon Aug 15, 2011 5:49 pm

So a few people have been going door to door selling an album from Montreal based band Your Favorite Enemies. Apparently they've been all over town. I know at least 4 or 5 other people who bought one. Not sure what that's all about but I was surprised to hear how many people actually purchased the album. Anyone else get someone at your door selling it? I thought it was pretty ambitious.

Did not hear about it, well, before now.

Well I guess if you're unemployed(ie a musician) and don't mind walking it's win win. Get some exercise and anything you sell is a bonus. I don't think you'd make more than any reasonably well paying job though.

My in-laws on the East side bought one from them, because they were laying the sob story on pretty hard, from what I was told. They made it to Rothesay, because I came home to one of their flyers in my mailbox once. Props to their ability to get around, that's for sure!

EDIT: "sob story" probably isn't fair of me to say, as that's only the impression I got from my in-laws.

They were at my house, I did not buy the record. I found it kind of pushy truth be told.

The concept, or the way they sold it?

The guy at my house was nice enough. I don't think it's actually the band themselves selling though, just friends and fans. I was originally under the impression that they were struggling but I checked out a video and they're nearly at 400 000 views on Youtube.

The showing up in my driveway just as I'm coming home from work. My mind is on taking a dump at that time, not hearing about their band. Wrong approach I think.

Just curious, are you against all door to door soliciting? Personally they only really start to annoy me when the same person comes around canvassing every three weeks for the same event/charity/sales pitch. I also have no problem telling people I'm not interested and shutting the door, or not answering in the first place if I don't want to deal with it.

I just don't answer in the first place, myself. If a stranger's at the door, I just assume they want drugs and have the wrong place.
