Favourites

Inpired by the guitar solo of the day thread.
First of all, let me say, I don't have a favourite song (or a favourite band, for that matter). However, there are songs (and bands) that I really, really like. This is the "here, check this out" thread for songs that may not nessecarily have shining guitar solos, or a guitar solo period. This song features a simple, yet kick-bum bassline, nice vocal harmonies and the 4 bar pre-chorus is pure heaven. It's a "top of the pops" type of performance video. Please refrain from any criticism of the singer's hair or attire, but the rest of the band is fair game.
Enjoy.

Outstanding tune, and man, could that guy sing. Love a lot of Prism.

OK... I'll see your classic Canadian content with this little ditty.

Bumb it up to 480.
'Twas of a romantic nature and bordered on religious significance.

josh Ritter; I remember seeing him open for Sarah Harmer a few years ago at the Imperial Theatre, I was doing monitors. He was very engaging, he had the theatre in the palm of his hand. Unfortunately, what I remember most was his attempt at a joke regarding being at a function with Avril Lavigne. It was based on the assumption that the audience held Avril in as low esteem as he did. I felt his joke failed hard, but obviously he did have some sympathizers, based on the modest amount of laughter. But yeah, he was great- his songs and stage presence hit hard.

While not really a tune I would consider one of my favourites, I find it fascinating. I find the urban legends surrounding this piece of music to be entertaining, but nothing more. To me, it sounds like a soundtrack by Robert Smith, who wrote it while tripping hard on dextromethorphan.

Although the song has been used in many things over the years, it's easy to forget how cool this recording is. Based on a tape loop track that they built on.

I listened to this a few days ago. Beautiful. Still as yummy to the ears as it was 25 years ago.

Other than forever loving this trio, I remember always thinking this solo section was badass...

That is one I'll never get tired of. Even that video holds up after all these years.

Love the direct guitars on this... and cool bass... and crazy synth drums and percussion...

Because of their substantial hits, not enough people are aware of the many cool tracks these guys recorded over the years. Andy Newmark on drums is simply fantastic.
