Wow... the 'entire planet' reads this forum?
I'm impressed!

I was really referring to Facebook. If I thought the entire planet was reading this forum, I'd want a paycheque from Malcolm.

hey, i was moderated to this here spot.......by the moderator....so, if i wanna play in the sandbox...i will follow the rulezz. :-D

hi everyone.....my name is jamie....and i have been playin music since i was six. i am way way older then that now. my first training was vocal, singin in random choirs, and whatnot....movin onto classical violin..unfortunately i quit that after five years, picked up the six string accoustic....and the rest is some convuluted form of history.(in my mind anyways) .because, in my twenties, i was a singer in a rawk band in mtl, and toronto....so that whole decade sorta plays itself back like those old fashioned silent films, with skipping frames, and a lot of just black spaces.

haha im sorta kidding

now.....i play the bass and sing backup, with a band called whitewater.....sorta country rock...60 songs or so on the repetoire, 11 originals, the rest are pretty standard drinkin tunes. ala...stones, eagles, america, johnny cash, merle haggard...fun stuff to drink and dance to....

and i play cello in an accoustic trio called jam, spots,& hospitals. this band has a 19 yr old bass player, that seriously plays circles around me, and the principle songwriter, on accoustic gtr, played very heavy metal around the city for a pretty long time. they both have other metal projects on the go as well. primarily instrumental band, 16 tunes.....the tunes we write almost seem to write themselves. i dub this classical/folk, and i describe it as bach/king crimson being put in a blender (of course, thats a bit of a wish o mine.

AND.

i like long walks on the beach, and taking pictures, and watching simpsons, in my south park underwear.....uh..super hot chicks, i like.....coupla beers with my budz, and.....playing music live. i love life, and think mean people suck. i am currently going to school, to learn how to be a total computer geeeeeek

LOTR ftw.

and i stop now.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand

scene.

you sir...

are correct.

do you want me to bring anything to help facilitate a nice sound....

..really tho roachie, i would like to just mic the stage sound...nice and easy off the "stage" with mics on the instruments, or, di the bass and gtr., mic on the cello, and three vocal mics.

but, you know whtver makes it easier for everyone.

:-D

To tell you the truth, we're only really set for simple stuff... what we have at our disposal are 2 beta58s, 1 beta57, 2 DI boxes, 1 monitor, 6 channels. Anything you want to bring along to make things better for you guys is welcome. The mains are behind the "stage" so doing a "mic the stage" thing might not be such a good idea. We'll talk closer to the date, I'm sure I can borrow some stuff to get'er done.

cool man.

the only thing i can say, is that its really hard to get a cello off the stage at a nice volume without it feeding back. so, ideally, we wont need the monitors, because they generally cause the cello to ring,....so

mbey the gtr and bass thru the di's @ a nice safe volume....so we can monitor ourselves on the stage with the instruments, ...

think sun studio days. everyone sets up, plugs in, a mic, or two is set up to catch the room, and the vibe.....and press the go ...

super simple.

im looking forward to it. :-D

WTF are the mains doing behind the stage?

It's not our choice and there's nothing can be done about it...although we make do rather well albeit. It's a DJ P.A. system.... it was never really placed with the intention of having live bands in there.

sorry matt, to reiterate,

i wasnt trying to be a dic.

i thought that puttin mics in front of speakers could potentially turn into a somewhat painful situation,

i suppose if its all under control, it does work in a pinch.
