Just some calls that I've taken over the years.

Her: They wouldn't let me bring my car from the US to Canada.
Me: Is it a US plated vehicle?
Her: Yes!
Me: You are a Canadian resident primarily?
Her: Oui, tabarnac!
Me: (wtf?) I'm sorry ma'am but you can't drive a US plated vehicle in Canada if you are a Canadian resident. You'd have to import it.
Her: Canadian? But I'm from Québec!
Me: (WTF?)

From a little while back (before the GST went down to 5%.) I thought I was on the fun phone.

___________________________________________

Me: GST is applicable on the Canadian value of the vehicle.
Him: How much is that?
Me: 6%, sir.
Him: 6% of what exactly...?
Me: Of your vehicle's value.
Him: Oh I get it. So how much is that?
Me: Depends on your vehicle's value, sir.
Him: What does?
Me: The amount of tax owed does.
Him: Wait a second! You said it was 6%!
Me: Yes that's correct sir.
Him: But you said it depends on the value.
Me: Yes it is 6% of the vehicle's value, so you would multiply the canadian value of the vehicle by 0.06."
Him: 0.06 what?
Me: No you'd multiply the value by this number.
Him: Hey, you're not getting paid to give me a math lesson.
Me: (wtf?) I'm sorry sir I just want to make sir that you understand the answer as clearly as possible.
Him: Well I'm not stupid. OK let's start back at the beginning. How much do I owe?
Me: (WTF?)

Ah fun memories of call center days. If I had time to burn, I'd call up until I got you, and make crank calls all day.

I love it, it's entertaining as all hell. You can't rattle my cage, because I don't take anything personally. I still love my job.

Oh I was always the same way. Sometimes I used to try to get people riled up just for the entertainment value. Sometimes if someone was really mad, I'd be super Mr. Polite, just over the top niceness, but with just a touch of condescension. Just pushes them over the edge.

As I'm sure you would know Matt, you can get some fun conversations in dinner theatre. I was once told by a customer that her having to sit facing a wall was "oppressive", I then had to explain that all the chairs were facing one of 2 walls, and that they could be rotated 90 degrees to face the stage. She still found it oppressive...

If I had a nickel for everytime I've had to pick someone up (in their chair) to face them towards the stage in a effort to prove that we didn't bolt the chairs down prior to their arrival just to fuck with them... I'd have a dime. Seriously, it's happened twice... The beauty of serving in character.

Me: Are you calling from within Canada?
Him: No. I'm in Québec.
