Seems redundant to begin a new thread when this one is here.

maybe this thread should be an initiation rite for all new members.

I'm a supply teacher.

Today I was in a classroom called "ALC."

I think today was probably the day in which I heard the word "gay" said more than any other day before in my life.

Everything was described as "gay"; plus there was a lot of talk about something called a "boobie-nipple gun." And they seemed to really enjoy saying, "your mom" after just about anything. I think they were trying to be funny, but I honestly don't think they understood anything they were saying at all. They seemed to try to act old and mature (in a warped sense), but they were very, very young in my opinion for their grade levels (grade 7-8).

It actually made me miss hearing teenagers say "like."

And I don't mean they were being immature (obviously they were), but they were very young (in the sense of innocent); I really don't think they have any clue what it is they are talking about. They're like a proverbial monkey repeating what they see and hear in the media, older students, etc.

I'm inclined to let this continue in this thread, but if anyone were to start a new thread like this, I might give them the old stink eye.... :-|

They asked me what my favourite song is, and I answered: You won't know it 'cause it's old; it's called "What A Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong.

And one of the students at the front, who had begun the day by trying to act quite "tough," said that it was his favourite song, too, and that he had done a school report about it earlier in the year.

Are you saying I should earn my bronze member the honest way, as opposed to latching on to this thread?

I'm saying that it may be getting a bit out of hand. but what the hell, you've only got 30 or so more posts to go I guess...

Now this is no fun.
