...what does everybody like to listen to?
Favourite genre...favourite bands/artists, etc.?

I'm an old-school metalhead from the Judas Priest / Black Sabbath neighbourhood.

Anybody else?... huh....huh??

I'm a fan of all the early Black Sabbath stuff featuring Ozzy... it broke new ground back then, and the sonic signature of that stuff, I can't really explain it or define it... sounds like they hired engineers that usually recorded jazz musicians or somethin' ? It's really odd and I like it...

I know what you mean. Drums were very dry and muted.
Geezers bass tone was very "woody" due to his style of playing very close to the neck.
I always attributed it to the production values of the day...

My current listening includes, but is not limited to, Wilco (they rocked the Playhouse last month), Steve Earle, Lucinda Williams, Joel Plaskett (with and without the Emergency), and Catherine MacLellan (wonderful songwriter from PEI). Of course, I also am a huge fan of Led Zep, Floyd, the Doors, etc., but I don't find myself listening to that stuff much anymore. Just get sick of listening to it, I guess. Gotta keep the new stuff comin'....

I've gone through phases. There are things that I used to listen to that I don't
even consider anymore, until now.
Chipmunk Punk was the first album I owned.
Thriller was the second album I owned.
Rockstars I have known and loved:
ac/dc, def leopold, the cult, northern pikes, joe jackson, the police, big country,
pink floyd, led zep, black sabbath, nirvana, pearl jam, alice in chains, soundgarden.
Of that slew of noise, there are only a few I still choose to listen to:
ac/dc, joe jackson, the police.
I went through a horrible phase which involved the likes of Keith Sweat, LLcoolJ,
Ready for the World, and milli vanilli.
Get your laughing in now, because that may be stricken from the record.
I am le tired. I will continue later.
Please suspend judgement, things improve.

I would say that Alice In Chains has had the most influence on me over the past 10 years or so.
I would also note that Halfords solo work is superior to the latest JP release, IMHO.

I'm all over the place. I range from Reign in Blood by Slayer, to Parachutes - Cold Play, Wyclef Jean - Carnival, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones - Live Art, to Eminem - Slim Shady. Steve Miller - The Best of, to Ed Bickert Trio - third Floor Richard, to the Jimi Hendrix experience, on and on, no reason or rhyme I guess.

All over the place. I'm not too selective. Right now I play mostly acoustic stuff, but if I had the instruments I want, I'd have a monsterous plethora of different instruments, from accordian to xylophone. Meh...

1st album every bought Beatles - Rubber Soul at age 9

most recently purchased albums (two weeks ago at age 37)
Beatles - LOVE on CD/DVD and REVOLVER and George Harrison - Living in the Material World remaster on vinyl. See a trend here? ;-) I like the Beatles like most people like the Sun.

I still love the Police, Radiohead,Floyd, Broken Social Scene, WEEN, Arcade Fire, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Bjork, Mogwai, And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead, Boards of Canada, Godspeed You Black Emperor, and the Pixies. I also must confess that I still listen to prog as well :-( Rush, Marillion, etc

I also used to listen to alot of metal...Maiden, Priest, Sabbs, etc, etc. But not so much now, although I did see WASP, Ozzy and Tool while I was living in Calgary and gotta admit, I forgot how great they were.

Wanna talk about "all over the place"? Here goes:

My first single ever was (bought at the old Sears store in the North End of SJ) - Joe Hardy himself - Shaun Cassidy - Hey Deanie! Classic! I remember it melted in the sun and I was so pissed.

Here's my list:

Pink Floyd (no surprise there)
David Gilmour
Radiohead
Coldplay
Toto
U2
Steely Dan
The Police
Sting
Elbow
Eisley
Stereophonics
Keane
Filter
Live
Led Zeppelin
James Taylor
Duran Duran
Northern Pikes
Grapes of Wrath
Metallica

...and the list goes on....

Well OK
After quite a bit of thought and recollection I have decided that my shoulders are big enough to take the flaming....... or not!

My first record that didn't come with a book (can't wait for this) was, I believe, I'm a Believer by the Monkeys. 45
My first album was an Ann Murry one I think.
That being said if you all can stop laughing your asses off for a few I'll continue.
My brother who is 5 years older than I had a small collection of albums, most of which I still have, and among them was an early Steve Miller that I grew quite fond of. In the Beginning - A Journey From Eden. Now one of my all time faves. This is in my opinion some of his best work and its not over produced. I like Steve Miller but LOVE that album.
I also have the original Boston album I bought when it was released. Also a fave.
My tastes have improved slightly over the years from Ann Murry.
I really like 4 piece jazz with drums vibes piano and base.
I have a few very nice jazz records in my 1500 album collection of vinyll(mostly 80's tho)
I've always been partial to Elton John(older) and Fleetwood mac Genisis, Chilliwack, lots more.
Of course I enjoy most of the 70's era classic rock etc.
I have a real nice audiphile copy of Floyds Wish you were here. Great sound Great music.
I must be getting older because I even find myself enjoying (cough) some country. (fuck did I say that?) OK ITS TRUE Fuck off all of you!!!!:-)

Ok There it is Let the flaming and general shitting upon begin. (I have real high expectations from oddioguy!!)

Quite enjoying the FB crons btw. Thanks Matt
