$350.00??? I don't think so. And this is actually the "reduced" version of the price.

I would hope people looking to buy stuff like that off kijiji are smart enough to at least search ebay and see what the same item recently sold for. In this case, it's about $100.

Yeah... How much did 500GB of hard drive space cost you in 2000?

The thing that makes the BR8 worthless by comparison is it's storage medium being that zip drive. And I know it's reliant on that for everything.

I'm not saying it doesn't function, but today there are some pretty fly options for 3-400$ that will easily smoke it's capabilities. Keep in mind this is a now discounted price of $350. That's still unrealistic for something that's as limited as it is.

That BR600 isn't a "new" BR8.

Similar, but not the same.

Now... $300 FIRM!

We'll see how long that lasts. And especially now that there's this:

We need a kijiji detective forum...

;-)

The BR900CD is the direct upgrade path from the old BR8, but I think the BR600 actually has more in common in terms of functionality. $200 seems reasonable for one in good shape that's been upgraded a bit.

I find the more of these threads I see on here (there's a few now), the more this forum becomes the whiney and immature place it claims to be the opposite of.

I recall a thread from not so long ago ridiculing someone for posting about recording rates on Kijiji and more than one of these threads that are appauled about people selling recording gear for more than those "in the know" know it's worth.

Funny too, these are the threads with the most hits on here...

Well I'm off to see what's new on "that other" forum now...chat soon

as a note, I'm not singling you out Malcolm, just these types of threads. I likes ya...

Sorry.

I will stop starting threads about eager sellers of overpriced or misrepresented gear.

If anyone ever asks me what I think about the prices of things on internet sites, I will state that I don't want to appear whiny or immature so I will reserve my opinion.

In fact, maybe what we all should do is help these folks sell their gear. Maybe start up threads about how "awesome" or "professional" their equipment is, and how low their prices are for what you are getting. That would be much more mature of us.

Clint...

These "types" of threads show up on many a pro audio forum.

I find these threads as they are intended, entertainment for the members. These are not to be taken seriously, are they? I think not, but perhaps I think too much, yet I tend to just roll my eyes and chuckle aloud when members start these items off. I remain amused...

I don't really care much for internet forums, but I do lurk on this one and the other one when I get a chance, and I have found that...

clinton wrote: whiney and immature place (is more often) "that other" forum
than this one... they're mostly all opinion based, grain of salt, take it or leave it kind of jibberjabber, but they're surely entertaining from time to time.

fair enough, just stating my opinion. I'm not bothered or anything...

You're allowed to be bothered by it. Sometimes the remarks appear a little mean, and when people with more knowledge are making fun of people with less knowledge, that probably sets off the 'offended on behalf of others' button for a lot of people.

BUT, everyone has the right to blow off some steam once in a while, and it's a nice feeling to be able to do that with people who can relate. As long as it's kept in the Coffee Shop section, it seems fair game to me. We're all human, and that means that sometimes, a man selling a $50 keyboard for $350 will be ridiculed all up in this. Mercilessly. From the safety of this board (maybe I should have picked a more private screen name!!). It's not right of me to do that, but I hope I'm judged by all my posts, and not just the ones that make me look bad ;)
