Forums Down? Don't Panic.

Postby Malcolm Boyce » Fri Jan 21, 2011 9:14 pm

As we approach the 5 year mark of the existence of this little waste of web space, I'm looking at updating the board's software. This will require some down time in which you will find the site disabled. It could be at any time of day, so don't panic is you find us without a place to go for a bit.

As well, I will be soliciting ideas for new content, and any other ideas to make things interesting for those who lurk.

Thanks all, and I'm excited about the new site, even though it will be pretty much the same for most of you.

some articles, reviews (CD and show), maybe a user spotlight section...I dunno

I'd be willing to help with whatever in content

I agree, I think a user spotlight section would be pretty cool.

Also, another thing i've always loved about this forum is it's simplicity. In other forums I have to read through a list of 20 forum topics before I find the one mine is supposed to be in. With this one you pretty much know where it's supposed to be every time.

So, how do you all feel about a special monthly Q&A with different people where we focus on a given artist or technician's work? It would be something where we could spotlight someone, and highlight their contribution to the community.

I'm thinking about some of our regulars, as well as some of us could maybe lure some big shots to come in and participate.

Good idea Clinton.

BTW, I hope you all are finding the new setup easy to navigate. There is a lot of different functionality, but it all does the same thing.

I really dig that idea Malcolm. I probably won't be able to participate in any meaningful level for the next two months due to prior commitments, but will do whatever I can after that.

Just curious who some of you might be most interested in me inviting to join in here. This is meant to be a "local" forum, so my first instinct is to lure some friends that may be of interest from our home area. That being said, I could also try and get some folks from afar for us to pick on for some views from away.

What do y'all think? What might be interesting?

Were you thinking of anyone in particular? I'm very open to the idea of expanding our horizons.

What is there some sort of max occupancy around here?
