Realization, Resolutions and Feeler

Postby Scott DeVarenne » Thu Apr 05, 2012 11:38 pm

I realize now that the computer is not to be regarded as a secure storage medium for any files that are considered important.
My resolutions are to regularly back up important files and to purchase (professional) anti-virus/security software.
Anyone have recommendations of anti-virus/security software? Kaspersky and Norton have already been suggested.
Anyone?

Doh! I hope this doesn't have any long term consequences...

...and yes. Backing up is a must. What's that line? Data doesn't actually exist until it's in at least two places...

My IT guy tells me to use Microsoft Security Essentials. Low overhead, works well, and free! I don't actually have to deal with anti virus, but the first major Mac Trojan just surfaced so I'm starting to think about it. I have a daily backup of my entire production hard drive using a program called super duper. Also use time machine for my system drive.

I've had Norton on 2 different computers at different times. Both times a nasty virus hit just as it was about due for renewal. I've found AVG to work well.

AVG and Avira both work well. Norton and MacAffee both stink.
