Lates computer "scam"...

... or maybe not really a "scam" but it's the best I could come up with.

I've noticed that software companies have started using the generic: "A security threat has been discovered..." scare tactic to guarantee your compliance with "upgrading" your version to the one they want you to run.

I mean really... Is it just a coincidence that they all have started using that? I mean even for programs that shouldn't be accessing the net except for these "upgrades"...

Quick Time just gave me the poke... I guess I'll have to comply...

Well, you can't really blame them...after all, that very tactic has worked very well for Republicans in the U.S. "If you don't upgrade, the terrorists win!"
