Atlantica, Year Three...

Postby Malcolm Boyce » Tue Oct 07, 2008 10:51 pm

So, as much as I hate to beat a dead horse... Aw, who am I kidding...???

A little bird told me that in it's second year of offering such a course, absolutely no enrollment for the "recording arts" program at Atlantica.

I also have word that one of the two substantial local instructors of the recording "program" has given notice of his leaving the organization...

Many of the "name" instructors on the schools faculty list remain MIA...

It's a joke without a good punchline.

Really a poor execution of a great concept... I mean arts school wise.

Here's hoping it doesn't sour anyone else thoughts on starting a more legit school of this type in our area.

Interesting... I think I can assume which instructor is leaving. They have no enrollment this year? What about the video side of things? Surely they must have clients somewhere.

I knew that they lost someone high up in the administration, but I believe this person has been replaced. But now I have no idea what's going on there anymore.

I go to that building from time to time, but just when I have dealings with Hemmings House Pictures, they just happens to be a tenant. But I go in the back door and never see anyone from the Atlantica group.

She is pleading ignorance as she pulled out of her managing partner roll earlier this year.

I guess this would make it year four.

They are apparantely skulking for "faculty" to staff their new building with little success. Jagoe is no longer there as what last year appeared to be close to half of their practical instruction.

I know I don't know everything about what is going on, but when I go to the instructors page and see Wes dropped like a hot rock after leaving, but Creighton Doane and Dan LeBlanc still up there when neither one of them has taught a class to the best of my knowledge... Something stinks.

That Leaves Gosselin, Kuehnel, and Dan Chamberlain.

I know they're pissed at me, but when you can't answer that simple question about who's teaching there, VS who's up on their website, something isn't what it appears to be.

This still bums me out because I would love to see a legit school of this kind in our fare city. It's all a bit of a bad joke.
