Roland Jazz Chorus JC-77

Postby Redeye Mojo » Sat Aug 12, 2006 7:56 pm

I'm picking up a Roland Jazz Chorus JC-77 in a couple of days...
From what I gather it is approximately 15-20 yrs old, but in excellent condition.
It's been recapped, etc., etc., and it's like new...
However... It is missing the reverb tank...
The Roland's are all about the great stereo chorus, but I'd sure like to get that reverb tank replaced...
Any suggestions?
Could I swap the reverb tank out of say, a Fender Blues Jr.?
Are theses things swappable? If so, under what parameters, if any (resistance?)?
I'd sooner pop in an original tank...
What do you think of this amp Thom? I understand they are very well built and clean.

Thx

Did a little digging on Ebay... Does Munro deal with any of the Accutronics line of spring reverbs?
Any thoughts on this line if familiar?

We do. I just brought in a 3 spring tank for my custom 10W prototype.

OK! So it gets the Chandler 'stamp of approval'! Sweet!

What might you recommend for this particular amp, and what might the
ballpark be cost wise?
Oh yeah, and I assume it's something you would have to order huh?

Thx

I've never been inside a JC-77. Perhaps a testament to the build quality?
Ranger Audio appears to have the service manual for it, and I would like to think that the original rev. tank number would be in that manual. (If you cannot find the manual from a free source.)
The input and output impedance of the tank will help it operate efficiently, so try for the original or an Accutronics baed on the service manual data.
Yeah...I'm looking around a bit for it too.

Order? Yup....
They run around $30-40 + tax, depending on model, which will have to be determined as mentioned above.

You might try contacting Accutronics directly, to see if they have a recommendation....
