Ask your questions....maybe someone here can help.
In the meantime, pics of some of the more interesting gear that I've crossed over the years will follow from time to time.

I am going to attempt setting up my electric guitar today or tomorrow.
It's all messed up because the strings were off of it for a few weeks and
the bridge slipped off of it's posts. If I encounter any problems, I'll let y'all know.

Just holler if you need advise. In the interim, here's a Gibson L5 Custom. The connection between the 2 coils on the neck pickup failed after about 20 years. It had never been soldered at the factory.
(Sorry about the poor quality. Taken "pre-good-camera")

Simple, clean, and very quiet.

I need to take my guitar (Telecaster) some where to get setup. I bought it on Ebay last year and the 5th/A string seems to have a buzzing ringing sound when struck (hard to describe). Changed the strings several times and the same thing. Any suggestions?

Only when the string is played open, or does it persist when fretted as well?
Open string only - The slot in the nut is worn or improperly cut (wrong angle, or too low), and needs to be re-shaped. May require a new nut.
If it happens constantly while fretting, the saddle is the likely culprit.

Paul Stephen is your man for the job.

I set up my Godin Solidec a couple of days ago. All seems good but I got the
open string buzz going on with the A & D strings. I took a measurement and
indeed the culprit is the nut. Two of the slots are too deep. I am broke, I can't
buy a nut and get it cut so I may try shimming under one side. Guitar set-up is fun.
After spending some time taking measurements and looking critically at distances
and gaps, I feel like I know my guitar more intimately. It's kind of sexy.

Try shimming the whole nut instead of just one side (keeps the whole nut in contact with the neck). You can always cut the remaining slots deeper if the other 4 strings are too high after shimming.
It's a good idea to sand the top of the nut down to meet the strings so that the slots are not too deep. Sandpaper makes good shim material, too. It's plentifull around the shop and you can mix and match thickness' to suite.

Here's one of my own. Modeled after the Mesa Studio .22, but with a few personal refinements. It's a prototype, and still needs work (eg.: too noisey)
Tone is pretty good, though.

Canadian made "Supreme" amp. Badly needed new filter caps and general TLC.

Pulled the chassis. Old Mallery dual can filters.....and a tube rectifier!
Cool...

The old filters are soldered to the chassis. Gonna need MORE POWER to reflow this mess.

Screw it ...I just cut 'em out with a Dremel tool.

Gonna replace 'em with these, but need to install the clamps first.

...and the new caps are installed. Did a bunch'a routine maintenace as well. All electrolytic caps were replaced, along with out-of-tolerance resistors. Capped it all off (Pun!!!) with a new set of tubes.
Sweet.

A well known local luthier asked me to rebuild the Gibson Skylark.
