Well, I never said that I was plugging a microphone into a guitar amp. the portable PA amp that I have, has the mixer part built in as well. Its similar to this: http://www.starkelectronic.com/spcpa.htm

Not as basic as that but still with only 2 inputs, both being 1/4".

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.............................

In that case that 'input' is meant to accept a high impedance microphone input.
In which case a simple low to high impedance microphone matching transformer is all you need and I think I have one or two kicking around.

We have those at the store so knowing that thats all I need, I will just pick one of them up and use that instead of rigging a DI backwards.

Sorry I misunderstood. You didn't specify what kind of "amp" you were talking about. I'm glad you were able to get it figured out though.

I want a passive DI for live application. Nothing fancy just something that works for relatively cheap. Any recommendations?

Are they expensive? I like them because they are low profile and very simple in design.

For twenty bucks more I'd gothis way. Better quality, sound and possibly longevity.

Oh yeah...? I would have though they were much pricier. What's the going rate on that Al? The IMP 2 seem to be pretty cheap in price.

I need to get a couple of those. Most of my DI's at the studio are starting to fall apart. I'd also really like to get an IBP, but I think I'd have a hard time getting Danny to shell out for a $500 "DI".
